As the HR manager for Topnotch Boutique, it is my responsibility to ensure that the right
individuals are in place to run the company and provide great services to our customers.
Topnotch Boutique originally began as an online store that would focus on selling high-end
items that could not be sold in department stores like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom’s and Saks 5th
Avenue. The clientele we targeted were individuals who like nicer clothes but, could not afford
them from the department stores. After four years of being in the business, the decline in
economy and business began to get the better of Topnotch Boutique. Consequently, we had to
lay off some staff.
After much research on how to bounce back from the decline in revenue, we are back on
the rise. However, I have staffing issues. We want to provide our customers with the best
services there are. However, I am not sure if the staff that I have in place understand this
objective. As an HR manager, I have to make some decisions to turn the staffing issues around.
Moreover, to improve the employees’ performance, I need to modify their behaviors and define
before them three essential behaviors that are important for achieving a great job performance.
These behaviors include being polite and communicative so that our customers feel easy to
interact, being good listeners so that the customers' problems can be understood and addressed
properly, and always having a pleasant attitude (Goetsch & Davis, 2014). Therefore, for behavior
modification, I should implement the following Organizational Behavior Modification Plan.
