At least 2 other bullet points should discuss personal abilities or assets (languages you speak, areas of strength, traits like “attention to detail” or “good working in teams” with some context describing how you’ve used those traits). Make sure you could discuss these 4 or more bullet points in 1 minute (time yourself). Submit this written draft for feedback from professor by March 15. 2. After getting the professor’s feedback, record yourself giving your elevator pitch (a visible, clear, audible, cellphone video is fine) of 30 seconds to 1 minute. Start by introducing yourself with a smile or positive demeanor, and wear business-appropriate clothing. Submit by April 3. 3. Using the guidelines in the “Scholarship or Admission Questions” at the bottom of this document, select one (or more) scholarships or transfer schools that you might want to apply for. Draft responses to the essay question(s) for that application. For the purposes of this class assignment, the text you write should be 280-650 words, but you MUST stay within the word count for the specific essay, so some students may answer just one essay question; while others will answer two or three. Ask for feedback from someone with experience with these kinds of essays who can evaluate whether your essay suits the purpose and tone. Possible readers could be English or other professors, free tutors in the Writing, Reading and Language Center, or professional or academic mentors. Revise the essay(s). Submit: both the draft and revised answers. While you may submit item 3 to me any time before May 1, please NOTE that many of the scholarship or transfer application deadlines are much earlier, so if you are applying for scholarships or to transfer, complete the revision a week before that due date.
