With the story link, read through the creation myth of ancient Egypt and answer the following:
- Who killed Osiris? Why?
- Where did Osiris go?
- Who is Horus?
- How does the creation myth of ancient Egypt compare to other creation myths?
Using the Explore link, learn more about the different Egyptian gods and goddesses. Use the information to answer some of the following questions:
- Choose three gods and goddess from the list. What are their names? Describe the depiction of each god or goddess that you chose. What is each known for?
- Many of the Egyptian gods are associated with animals. What are some of these animals? Why do you think these particular animals were included in the Egyptian myths?

With the story link, read through the creation myth of ancient Egypt and answer the following:
1. Who killed Osiris? Why?
Seth killed Osiris out of jealousy and anger as he wanted to rule the earth over Osiris.
2. Where did Osiris go?
Osiris descended into the underground while Seth became the ruler of earth.
3. Who is Horus?
Horus was the son of Osiris and Isis, who rose up as king of the earth after having defeated Seth
while Osiris became king of the underground.
4. How does the creation myth of ancient Egypt compare to other creation myths?
As with other creation myths, the myth of ancient Egypt is void of any ruler beforehand, the rise
of man and woman consequently result in the bearing of more children and thus the population is
achieved in this manner. In most creation myths there is a division between the sky’s and the
earth below and water was existent before all creation was achieved.

as the most powerful gods also termed with time as the king of the gods.
Atum is depicted as a man wearing two crowns on his head. He is well known for his
existence on earth. He is considered to have been the first god to exist on earth who rose
from the Nun and coughed out the other gods.
Horus is depicted as a man with the head of a hawk thus bearing much significance to a
hawk. He was considered as Egypt’s protector.
