Typically, Kate, the author has addressed the sarcastic story of love under the storm context. The love story present controversies regarding the marriage life and the rekindle love by the ex-lovers. In the story, three instances of irony are evident as illustrated by the main characters which helps explore their respective feelings as portrayed in the story. The three irony instances present the different personalities of the characters and their feelings, the irony in marriages and the unforgotten love stories. Eventually, there is dramatic irony where Calixta who is married to Bobint her husband and have a son named Bibi loosen her grip and enjoy having a love affair with Alce whose is married as well. She feels that the act is justifiable currently and justify her act which seems to make her happy and tends to rekindle her broken marriage per her perception. This pure dramatic irony given that though Calixta seems to enjoy the sinful ungodly act and feels its right terming it as birth right which contrary to our expectation. For Calixta the previous lover of the Alce had proven strict on her principles hence not easy enticed to commit the ungodly act, having sex which she actually enjoys and justify the act as right. Also, the dramatic irony is confirmed with the claim that it was the first time that her firm and elastic flesh knew it was a birthright indicating the joyous moment she enjoyed during the sinful love affair. Besides, there is also love irony for the married couples where both seem to be more lovely to their families despite their infidelity act (Gale, 2016). Calixta is married to Bonint, and both were blessed with a son named Bibi while Alce was married as well. Calixta feels that the act rekindled her trouble marriage and is expressed precisely and clearly when she IRONY IN THE “STORM NOVEL” 3 seems happier with her family after the storm (Chopin, 2016). After the storm, Calixta happily welcomed her family back been glad that the storm did not harm them while Alce wrote her wife love letter hence the feeling that the act revived her marriage. This pure love irony where the two seems to be more lovely to their married couples despite their infidelity which remains known to the audience hence faking love for their families. Also, the imagery description during the incident versus the actual act that occurred is pure irony. For instance, the scenario is imagery described as unbuttoning the white blouse at the neck by Calixta. Also, the white, monumental bed, white frame passion, and Calixta are described as white as the couch she lay upon. This white implied imagery description is irony compared with the feeling expressed by both characters. Both Calixta and Alce feels that it was nature ways to bring them together yet another time and embrace each other rekindling their love affair which has not faded away despite the years of separation (Chopin, 2016). Calixta and Alce feels that the many years of separation has not yet eluded their love which the emaciated. In conclusion, the Storm story by Kate Chopin present clear illustrates of the unattended love issues of the nineteenth century. In the story, the characters seem to possess unique personalities where they tend to hide their feeling which is purely ironical. For instance, Calixta and Alce feels comfortable and happy with their love affair despite five years of separation. The hidden feelings by the characters result in the irony where they engage in love affairs while faking love for their respective families and Calixta went further to justify her act terming it as birth right and feels it was appropriate to rekindle her troubled marriage.
