Prompt Question: Firstly, decide on your literary (Hank Morgan or Katniss Everdeen) and comic (Captain America or Black Panther) protagonists of choice, keeping in mind you can only focus on two of them and they have to be chosen from both fields. Secondly, you will create an argument around them, focusing on two simple angles: in what ways can you compare the two, and in what ways can you contrast them. Your thesis must address both angles to be fully on topic. Though how many similarities or differences you wish to argue remains up to you. Lastly, your conclusion must not only reiterate your full thesis, it also needs to answer this final question: of your chosen two, who qualifies as the more well rounded protagonist. Points will be deducted if you forget to address this final question. Remember these... *make your own creative title and intro./conclusion hooks *don’t repeat the names of the authors or story titles outside of the intro. paragraph * quotes 4 lines and under don't need to be indented, quotes of 5 lines or more need to be in the "block quote" format (don’t want to see more than one of these, and remember golden rule: how many lines of quote means just as many lines of explanation after) *if you use the quotes, explain why you used them, how they connect to what you are writing about in that paragraph, the quotes can't just be space-fillers and they cannot start a sentence either: ICE *Good Grammar Hint: Read your paper out loud, when you pause, insert a comma *In each body paragraph you should aim to find a good middle ground between your own examples/ideas and the stories, but aim for at least 2 quotes per body paragraph * Introduction and conclusion paragraphs do not technically need to have any quotes, but should still meet a full paragraph standard of 5 sentences * visit the Writing Center before due date and bring back a green slip (+3 for each visit) Citation References: Literary: (author’s last name pg. #) HG: (Collins 77). Exa l / P0te l: CA & B Out of all comic book superheroes, Captain America and Black Panther portray the strongest in terms of having an unwavering moral compass, a patriotic persona, and faithfully following Joseph Campbell’s 12 steps of the hero’s journey. Strongest Example: Katniss & CA Fighting injustice is one of the strongest links between comic book favorite Captain America (Steve Rogers) and Panem’s darling Katniss Everdeen. Even though they come from different worlds, their underdog symbolism and impoverished backgrounds give way for them to fight harder and ultimately create unwaveringly honest portrayals of true heroism as best depicted by step 12 of the monomyth.
