Introduction
According to Guttmacher Institute, approximately 750,000 teens in the United States
become pregnant each year. The percentage of the pregnancies that result in birth is 59%. Few of
these teen moms are left with minimal support from family, friends, the child’s father, and
friends. Many of these teen mothers end up being chased from their homes as some parents or
caretakers see them as a disgrace (Bayatpour et al., 1992). It is because of this main reason that
government agencies, foundations and charities have come up with programs that offer various
services to these teen mothers. These include food resources, housing and mentoring programs to
ensure that these teen mothers can give offer their children the best start possible.
Teen mothers program is an agency that provides an approach to teen mothers. This
approach is always a nonjudgmental one and is provided with various services and interventions.
These interventions and services put the primary focus on promoting relationships with fathers,
financial stability, and biological parents. The program also focuses on the mental health services
of young mothers and counseling, providing crucial information about reproductive health, birth
control, and important parenting skills. Teen mothers program agency offers several various
services to teen mothers (Woodward, L & Fergusson, 1999).One of them is promoting healthier
pregnancies, and healthier babies to prevent and reduce risks of the mothers losing their infants
due to sicknesses or some mistakes that could be earlier prevented. The other service is
acquitting them with parenting skills and knowledge to reduce the risk of child neglect and
abuse. This also minimizes the child being placed in foster care as well as improving the
