Introduction

Psychotic disorders are severe mental disorders that cause abnormal thinking and
perceptions (Bera, 2014). They may arise from head injuries or brain diseases among several
other causes. Schizophrenia is an example of a psychotic disorder that is chronic and severe and
affects how a person thinks, feels and behaves. It is mainly characterized by hallucinations,
unclear thinking, reduced social interactions as well as emotions and generally lack the
motivation to begin or sustain something. Although Schizophrenia is not curable, it is managed
by use of medicines as well as therapy.
Biological Treatment Methods
The biological causes of schizophrenia are still unknown and therefore doctors do not
really give medicine to cure the disease but rather give medications in a bid to counter the
symptoms of the disease. They are therefore given anti-psychotics and it is up to the doctors to
find out which ones that best work for their different patients. This could be said to be trial and
