Now, you will apply this knowledge as you select a particular theory appropriate to the resolution of the problem, issue, or conflict you identified in your Week 1 assignment.

Pick an organizational, leadership, or management theory or model and describe it in detail, including its history and development and possible applications.

Next, apply this theory or model to your problem, issue, or conflict. Describe how it fits your problem, issue, or conflict.

In addition, answer the following questions:

  • How did this theory or model come into being?
  • Who first used this theory or model and why?
  • Is this theory or model considered useful today? Why or why not?
  • What are the examples of its use today, if applicable?
  • Why did you choose this theory or model?
  • What are some specific applications of this theory or model to your problem, issue, or conflict?

Finally, this paper will be enhanced by your use of references from the course or those you find in the library. Examine your textbooks and the articles noted in the readings to see if any helpful information can be employed in this write-up, in the form of citations supporting your statements or insights related to the theory or model application. For example, your textbook Management of Organizational Behavior: Leading Human Resources has numerous chapters on organizational and management theories and models. Both textbooks, Management of Organizational Behavior: Leading Human Resources and Quantum Leadership: Advancing Innovation, Transforming Health Care, have numerous chapters that discuss leadership styles and models. Healthcare Management
The management of an organization needs a systematic arrangement that consolidates
and synchronizes roles, responsibilities, functions, and duties. To make this management
efficient and effective, particular bureaucracies have to be assimilated harmoniously and
practically. Classical Organizational Theory is involved with these systematic bureaucracies,
structures, and processes to guarantee efficiency and effectiveness. It originated during the
Industrial revolution and focused mostly on productivity and efficiency and does not consider
behavioral qualities of workers. Classical Organizational Theory blends positions of scientific
management, bureaucratic theory, and administrative theory. Scientific management includes
acquiring the best personnel and equipment and then thoroughly examining every element of
the production process, while the bureaucratic approach puts significance on creating a
hierarchical structure of authority. The administrative method establishes universal
management principles significant to all organizations.
Frederick Taylor established the scientific management theory. The approach was
organized planning of work to attain and increase efficiency and productivity (Mills, 2016).
Taylor defined such features as specialization, simplification, and standardization to be
significant during the preparing of a plan aimed at efficiency and productivity of an
organization. The principles that Taylor applied in his approach consist of a scientific
selection of the worker, scientific training of employees, application of science in an
organization rather than to the rule-of-thumb, management, labor cooperation as opposed to
conflict. In contrast, Max Weber was one of the supporters structuring the Classical
Organizational Theory. In his involvement, Weber defined that organizational or institutional
positions ought to be merited as opposed to allocated or received. He also considered the
chain of command, responsibility, and professionalism as the fundamental attributes of a
successful organization. According to Weber, the vital components of a bureaucratic

organization consist of a legal jurisdictional outline, democracy, establishment of rules that
guide everyone in the organization, a clear hierarchy of authority, duty
responsibility/accomplishment, and specialization/training of office duties (Chance, 2013).
