Hello! I have rephrased all the responses. I used info from both of the documents you sent me. Let me know if you'd like me to change/add anything...it's not a problem!Pam 😊
1. Distinguish generic drugs from brand name drugs, what is the major difference?
The biggest difference that is known to both outsiders and manufacturers is that generic
drugs are drastically cheaper than brand name drugs. This is because brand named drugs have a
patent which involved a lot of research and thus money to obtain. Generic drugs are shown to be
just as effective and have the same outcomes as brand name drugs. The companies producing
the generic form of the medication do not have to spend a lot of money to create it and they don't
have to capitalize the main ingredient of the drug like the brand's name is capitalized.
2. Explain the beneficial use of amphetamines.
The central nervous system is targeted by amphetamines to increase its reception of the
environment and sound and thus increase the time of reaction. They can also help people to lose
weight and pay attention if they have a disorder involving those symptoms. Off-label,
amphetamines can help depression since they raise its users' mood. If the dosage of the
amphetamine medication is too high, though, the beneficial effects of amphetamines can be
hazardous. A high dosage can cause physical dependence on the medications and extreme
3. What are the medical benefits for anxiolytics?
Anxiolytics mainly help users with anxiety and sleep disorders. This is by calming the
processes in the brain that are overactive when a person is prone to stress and nervousness. They
are only effective for a short period of time because if they are used for a long time, they can
easily cause physical dependence.
4. Discuss 3 classifications of psychoactive drugs their physical and psychological
The first type of psychoactive drugs worth discussing are hallucinogens. Hallucinogens
cause people to be confused and their perception to change which changes how they are feeling
for the better or for the worse and this can cause physical dependence. A person's behavior
changes along with some of their bodily processes such as blood pressure. The second type of
psychoactive drugs are stimulants. Stimulants cause excessive happiness and energy which
causes the increase in pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen intake. They are usually for remedial
value and not a cure. The body builds up tolerance with increased use and thus more is needed
to do the same thing. The third type of psychoactive drugs are depressants. Depressants make
the user relaxed and sleepy. This slows down a human's central nervous system which can cause
mental “blackouts” and actions that will not be remembered by the user if used in high doses.
5. List 3 routes administration for drugs use. Explain the advantages and
disadvantages for each route.
Three ways of inserting drugs into the body are orally, intravenously, and inhaling the
drug. The good things about the oral insertion are there are many types of oral drugs, they are
small, and it is self-explanatory on how to take them. The disadvantages are some people have
trouble swallowing pills, they cannot be taken if a person is unconscious, and some take a long
time to take effect depending on their dissolving abilities and the liver's effect. The good things
about intravenous insertion are the effects of the drugs are very fast and localized to treat the
patient's symptoms. The disadvantages are medical professionals need to insert the drugs and if
the patient is allergic to the drug, it is ridiculou...
