Question Description

  1. You and a friend are sitting in a local coffee college hangout talking about your friend’s upcoming wedding. Your friend seems rather hesitant and quiet today. He suddenly breaks down and confides in you that he has just been diagnosed with type 2 herpesvirus. 2. Your aunt, with whom you feel very close, tells you that she just had a mammogram that showed a dense area in the right breast and that her physician wants to do a breast biopsy. She asks you what that means and whether she should be concerned. Based on what you have learned, consider what you can and should explain to her.

  2. Your friend confides in you that he is worried about his father's health. According to your friend, his father has been a heavy alcohol drinker for many years and has just been informed by his physician that he has alcohol-related hepatitis. Discuss how you would explain alcohol-related liver damage to your friend so that he can better understand his father's condition.
  3. You are visiting relatives and your aunt develops sharp, severe right upper quadrant abdominal pain. You suspect that she may be having an attack of cholelithiasis or cholecystitis. What kinds of questions can you ask her that could help determine whether she is having either of these problems?

Indicate how long it took the fracture to heal and describe briefly the 5 stages of bone healing.
  2. Perform a literature search in a database of professional journal articles about one of the factors that impair bone healing (for example, smoking, diabetes, or corticosteroids). Write a summary for your classmates. Include at least two references.

Part A
Discussion 1
According to this case, a friend is about to wed but he has a problem since he is
diagnosed with type 2 herpes virus and he does not know whether to discuss the issue with the
fiancée or not. According to complications in this case, since HSV-2 is mostly transmitted
through sexual intercourse, it is the main cause of genital herpes. HSV-2 infection increases the
risk of acquiring new HIV. This disease can also lead to more severe complications like
pneumonitis, meningoencephalitis, retinal necrosis, or disseminated infection and hepatitis
(Looker et al, 2015). In handling this issue, it is advisable for this individual to be open and
discuss the issue with the fiancée in order for her to decide whether they are to call off the
relationship or if they are to continue with the relationship but use protections which assist in
preventing possible transmission like the use of condoms however it does not fully offer
protection since HSV can also be transmitted through kissing.

According to this case of an aunt who has a mammogram that shows dense in the right

doctor’s advice and allow him to proceed with the biopsy. A breast biopsy is the removal of a
sample from the breast tissue and this sample is tested for breast cancer (Elmore et al, 2015).
This test is important in case a person experiences abnormal mammogram, lump in the breast or

helps to determine whether there are signs of breast cancer or not and in case, then early
treatment can be undertaken.
