Introduction
The term performance management refers to the creation of an environment, which
enables employees to execute their responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the
demands of the institution. Performance management allows individuals to perform to the best of
their abilities. It is important for an organization to develop performance management practices
to help in restructuring the relationship between the management and the employees. In this way,
it would be possible for the organization to achieve its goals. Organizations have strategies that
they use to achieve their goals. In all their activities, there are particular objectives that the
institutions need to accomplish. To achieve these ends, companies must make sure that they
manage the performance of the employees so that they have an understanding of the tasks and act
in a manner that is in furtherance of the objectives of the institution. One of the critical areas in
an organization is the human resource. The human resource department plays a critical role in the
creation of an environment that allows an institution to achieve the objectives for which it was
developed. As such, the department must develop goals and objectives that dictate its approach
to functions in the organization. Performance management in organizations is critical since it
makes sure that an environment allows the human resource department and the institution as a
whole to achieve their objectives
