The two concepts that are the most important for an early childhood professional are (1)
the differences between guidance, discipline, punishment, and consequences and (2) treating
children with respect. First, it is crucial for an early childhood professional to distinguish
between guidance, discipline, punishments, and consequences during the process of guidance
behavior in children. This is because failure to distinguish may result in the professional using
