Regions and populations facing poverty often characterize with poor education or
complete illiteracy. Education is rarely a priority for people who lack the first primary basic
needs which include food, shelter, and clothing. Many children, especially in third world
countries, lack the access to quality education due to poverty. Neither the government nor the
private sector in such areas is able to make sure that every child gets an education. Some children
never even get the opportunity to set foot in a school while most of them drop out at some level.
Poverty is an obstacle to quality education while at the same time lack of education is a cause of
poverty.
Poverty leads to the lack of access to enough quality food. Children living in poverty are
forced to go to school hungry. It is obviously difficult for anyone to succeed in anything when
they do not have the energy to do it in the first place. The little food these children get in a few
times is rarely a balanced diet. This leads to further problems of malnutrition diseases such as
