Introduction
In the United States of America, different retail shops have embraced advanced
information system plans. This is due to the continued improvement and advancement in the
technology. Some of the firms that cannot coup with the new ideas of technology in the United
States face a significant challenge regarding competition. Some of the big companies who can
embrace the advanced technology in the retail sector tend to have a competitive advantage over
the others in the same business line. In this paper, I will be analyzing several issues about Sears.
For instance, their weaknesses and strength about the competitive forces and value chain models.
The problem that Sears is currently facing and the contributing factors to the issues at hand. The
solution that Sears selected upon facing problems and how effective the settlement was in
solving their problem. The paper will conclude with a discussion and an opinion based on the
whole analysis.
Background
Technology refers to the employment of scientific means in the practical purpose. Sears
have been a successful store from the early times before Amazon and others came on the
markets. Upon facing stiff competition from the new firms, they proved to be better in embracing
the technology that Sears, their markets sales started going down. Information technology is well
