The situation
The article discusses the case in which Aetna settled a lawsuit for the data breach which
occurred during the summer season last year. The data of more than 12,000 insured persons was
compromised when the information of those who were living with HIV/AIDs was disclosed.
The incidence occurred when Aetna required that all those who were insured with it and
were suffering from HIV infections to take their medication through the mail orders. The
medications were meant to either lower the risk of being infected by HIV or to treat the infection.
This resulted to a suit being filed in the year 2014 and year 2015 alleging that the policy was
discriminatory as it prevented the HIV patients from taking me...
