Context Analysis of Pablo Picasso, Less Demoiselles de’Avignon Artwork
When you hear the name Pablo Picasso, the world always hold two opposing views.
Often linked with two most influential figures in the history of art, Marcel Duchamp and Matisse
in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Picasso is a reflection of a modern innovatory way of signifying
truth in painting. Ron Howard in a National Geographic’s ‘Genius’ season used a superblytrimmed Antonio Banderas to depict the image of the Spanish painter. He describes him as being
second to the figure who proposed the relativity theory. The first part of this research work is
going to analyze Pablo Picasso and his masterpiece as a subject matter, context for which his
artwork was created, and feminist criticism in his piece of work.
Described as a persistent innovator whose best break-throw was, together with George
Braque, invented cubism- a comprehensive manner of portraying truth in painting. In coining the
new ‘idiom,’ he painted a bleak picture of the traditional ways of painting that involved the
three- dimensional image illusion. Rather he preferred the two- dimensional picture method.
Notably, he did not coin the new ‘idiom’ in a day; it involved a series of process of experiments
with the two most celebrated artists working independently to achieve their goal.
