It marked the beginning of farming as the society shifted from the culture of food gathering
to production. It is associated with the following characteristics;
a) The discovery and the advancement in the agricultural production, in turn, affected
the social organizations as individuals adopted more permanent settlements and the
evolution of land ownership. Permanent settlement and land ownership developed
because people focused on cultivating specific areas of land and they became attached
to them.
b) Also, the settlement of large groups in one area that led to the formation of larger
social groups contributed to innovations and challenges thus the need for a system of
social control and administration.
c) The introduction of specialized labor led to the development of social classes.
