Negotiation and Conflict Resolution
Negotiation is the process through which people or organizations bargain on the give and take of
situations in the quest to come to a common ground (Shearouse, 2011). The negotiation process is
not always direct as each party in the process has their demands and goals, and the aim is to find
common ground for both parties. Most times there is a neutral party during a negotiation to help
reduce or eliminate the risk of bias during the talks. Conflict resolution, on the other hand, is

clean up a problem. The result may be a win-win situation or win-lose situation. Either way, both
parties will have an opportunity to table their arguments and the effects they expect from the
existing problem (Shearouse, 2011).

resolve. The established coalition has known representatives that are still called upon in-case of a
problem to deal (Barry, Lewicki & Saunders, 2015). The established alliances include registered
bodies and associations of people that do the same kind of professions. For example doctor
associations or public transport coalitions. Temporary coalitions form in the sight of a threat to a
group of people who have a common interest and the need to eradicate the problem sees them work
as a team. The temporary coalitions are the dismantled once the problem is solved or they may
