The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is a non-governmental
organization formed under the umbrella of the United Nations general assembly (United Nations
Human Rights (UNHR), 2018). Adopted on 15 March 2006, UNHRC sole purpose is
strengthening, promoting and protecting various aspects of human rights across the globe. The
current structure of the UNHRC comprises of 47 seats filled by the elected members for a term
of three years from the member states and chaired by the high commissioner of the United
Nations.
