Introduction
Professional development is crucial for all teachers and contributes to improving the
performance of teachers. There have been increased societal expectations for students with
intellectual disabilities to succeed, but teachers and school staff need to understand how to
effectively teach those types of students (Lemons, 2018). Through proper professional
development, skills and strategies for supporting students with intellectual disabilities can be
learned and implemented in the classroom.
Problem and Purpose of the Proposed Project
Problem Statement
The problem is that there is limited professional development designed to help students
with intellectual disabilities in the classroom.
Purpose Statement
The purpose of this project is to determine how professional development can support
teachers of students with intellectual disabilities.
Significance of this Study
Importance of the Study
This study will uncover strategies that can be implemented in the classroom to support
students with intellectual disabilities through appropriate professional development.
Research Questions and Hypothesis
The following research questions will guide this study:

What types of professional development are most useful for supporting teachers of
students with intellectual disabilities? This research question is important to me because I do not
think that many schools are aware of the different ways that professional development can be
used to support teachers of students with intellectual disabilities.

Introduction
Life is all about satisfaction and this applies to teacher development. Getting the best out
of our teachers and improving students learning may be associated with “burnout, stress, and
unhappiness” (Crawford, 2017). Teacher’s burgeoning tools often depend on students’ tests
scores. The paper will investigate some of the key tenets surrounding the understandings and
prompt further consideration of advancement for the teachers’ satisfaction and school
improvement.
Problem and Purpose of the Proposed Project
Problem Statement
The problem is will teachers given higher pay have more positive attitudes toward
children than teachers given lower pay? Solving the problem that face teachers under different
environments is what forms the basis for the development of teachers.
Purpose Statement
The purpose of this proposed project is to determine the characteristics that attribute to
the teaching profession. They frequently change in job skills, behaviors, working environment,
and teacher’s attitudes.
Significance of this Study
Importance of the Study
The importance of this study is revealed by the negative outcomes of students’
performance tests scores. Teacher burnout and unhappiness may be decreased when
administrators learn how to prevent these things from happening ((Crawford, 2017).
Connection to Larger Population or Problem
MINI-PROPOSAL INTRODUCTION
We will consider the city of Longview, Texas as one of our research grounds for
discovering the independent variable which is teacher pay. The dependent variable for the
outcome is attitudes and behaviors toward school. Teacher job satisfaction in relation to
demographic areas, teaching experience, subjects areas taught, and school student achievement.
It is a good starting point, because results are indicating the larger population such as cities are
given higher pay. However, teachers in rural area schools that have low test score may not get
the same pay rate.
Research Questions and Hypothesis
The following research questions will guide this study: Is something (teacher’s pay)
causing something else (positive attitudes)?
Research Question 1
The question seeks to determine the correlation between school teacher job satisfaction
and student achievement.
Prior research is important because studies revealed that there is a relationship between
teacher job satisfaction and student exam scores.
Research Question 2
The second question investigates the relationship between teacher job satisfaction and
years of teaching experience. Based on teacher’s salary for not missing any days of work and
bonuses for student exam scores.
Will it benefit all school districts to give bonuses for teacher, if tests score are not
passing?
Hypothesis
Research / experimental hypothesis.

Everyone works for a living. Some personal and professional motivating factors is salary
and job satisfaction. Will teachers given higher pay have more positive attitudes toward children
than teachers given lower pay? Will state mandated student exams place too much stress on the
teacher. The first step is to compare the two groups to answer “Yes or No.” The groups are 1)
Teachers who are given higher pay versus lower pay and 2) Are beginning teachers happier than
those with five (5) or more years of teaching experience.
Null hypothesis. There will be no difference in the attitude of teachers because of
variation in pay scale. Years of teaching experience does not show any correlation with teacher
satisfaction.
