Movement of the population either within a country or across the national boundaries of a
state is known as migration. Internationally, close to ten million people cross the boundaries and
move out of their countries to other countries. The percentage of women leaving their countries
is relatively higher than that of men migrating to other countries. Although reasons causing
people to migrate are of wide range, women have different motives and cause of their migration.
Such motives may include economic incentives, family issues, learning opportunities, and
escaping from discrimination of gender (Alpass, 2014). Therefore, this paper focuses on
psychological and social challenges faced by the weak and endangered populations of people
Refugees are faced with natural disasters, prosecution by political forces, and political
turmoil. However, the burden laid on refugee women is furthered due to their status of feminism,
biological processes, and failure to address the problems facing women in refugee camps.
Women in refugee camps undergo emotional and sometimes physical torture while in their
struggle to get away from situations of oppression (Alpass, 2014). They are compelled to face
death, leave the camps, or even face worse conditions. Although they may find such kind of
horror, they still cannot quit from risking and exploring into the unknown places to try out the
lack of living a happier life. Their first point of the stop in their journey to reach a happier life is
a refugee camp. In those camps, they may be lucky and get the provision of basic needs inclusive
of shelter and food. Due to these struggles faced by refugee women, their group is, therefore, a
relevant example to demonstrate the struggles faced by vulnerable populations in the society and
the necessary aid that they may need.
