The laws that govern and stipulate licensing requirements for private security companies
in the state of Alabama are enshrined in the code of regulations developed and maintained by the
Alabama security regulatory board. This board works to promulgate rules which are in line with
those of the state and which offer guidance and code of conduct for private security firms and
officers. Through this code, the state stipulates all the requirement that private security agencies
and officers are required to fulfill in order for them to gain and retain their licenses. The code also
gives a breakdown of what the licensed security officers are required to adhere to and the penalties
that would result if there are violation to the code. Some of the issues that the code addresses
includes; matters of licensing, qualifications required, fees levied for the licenses, training and
other terms of operations (Code of Ala. 1975, §34-27C).
In order for a person to operate as a private security in this state they have to meet certain
