Patient safety.

In healthcare, patient safety entails mechanisms that prevent injuries and accidents
against patients. This healthcare's principle help alienate possible errors and
infections during the caregiving process. In many countries, medical researchers
illustrate the magnitude of the harmful effects of clinical mistakes which include
lengthy patient hospitalizations, permanent injury or death. According to World
Health Organization, (2017), medical inaccuracies in the United States entail the
third leading cause of patient mortality. Additionally, one out of ten patients
encounters an injurious incidence while receiving care. Annually, there occur about
forty-three million patient safety concerns. Fusion of several unfavorable
conditions, for example, understaffing, inadequate healthcare commodities, poor
sanitation, and ineffective structures result in patient care issues. Both patients and
healthcare organizations suffer as a result of weak safety structures. The cost of
medication as a result of errors estimates to above forty billion American dollars
yearly. Permanent disability or loss of life impacts enormous psychological cost to
families and relatives. Healthcare safety is a global concern. Care services should
occur in clean environments with minimal infection risks. Appropriate use of
equipment, timely medication administration in addition to correct treatments
procedures vehemently assures patient safety (Runciman, Merry, & Walton, 2017).
