Description

Each student will be assigned a Learning Team, in which the team will be given a specific developmental stage(s). Each team will create two case studies of a client with a disability (one for each member of the stages) to develop a presentation. For example, each of Learning Team 2 will develop a case study. One member will do One year and the 18 months. Students can use a movie or documentary of a person with a disability (any except mental illness). The presentation will include the following:

  • The fictional client(s): name, age, living situation, family background, marital status, dependent(s), employment status, educational status
  • Name of the developmental stage and ages
  • Explanation of the theories on the client and theorists focused on the stage (Ex: Anal stage and Sigmund Freud)
  • Describe the developmental tasks/domains (social, cognitive, and physical) developing during this stage
  • Address the medical concerns and disabilities including prevalence, etiology, causal factors, developmental tasks, etc. (Choose one or more medical conditions the client will have)
  • Treatment and/or prevention (Include all health professionals involved in treatment)
  • Team members will work together to develop a treatment plan to work with the client in various aspects of their life (i.e., vocational, educational, daily life activities, socially, etc.). The plan must list any professionals involved as well as their roles and recommendations as well as family involvement.
  • Cultural, counseling, and ethical considerations.
  • There should be at least four peer-reviewed references used to support the information. The Medical Aspects textbook or any medical reference can be used as well as the course textbook (Disability Across the Developmental Life Span by Smart, J (2012). Must be in APA format. Pictures, graphs, and diagrams are a plus. All Learning Team members must present and provide equal effort in the presentation.
