Introduction
The article, “Strategic Foresight Initiative” is generally about the increasing popularity of
the mobile device and the effect this will have in emergency response services in the country.
The author cites a research that was done in the year 2004 that revealed an increase of mobile
subscribers to 4.6 billion from 1.8 billion in only 5 years. According to the research, if the trend
that was observed continues, more billions of people are set to join the mobile network that has
simplified communication greatly becoming popular worldwide.
The author of the article observes that increase in mobile network popularity comes with
its effects both positive and negative. First, there will be an increase of general information
virtually everything within people’s environment when it comes to both electronic and nonelectronic. It will be easier to catch up with one’s environment while just using the mobile phone
in what the author refers to as the “internet of things.” This increased information will enable an
effective monitoring of infrastructure since sensors implanted on strategic locations can send live
images of the surrounding and trigger corrective response. However, there is a risk of cyberattack that could frustrate the monitoring and control of utilities.
Additionally, relying on the easily accessible patient's records due to the use of
telemedicine will definitely improve health care while reducing costs. It will also lead to faster
