Week 9 Discussion The proposal summary, also referred to as an executive summary, provides an overview of the full proposal and determines whether the funder will continue to read the full proposal. I like to think of the proposal summary as a trailer and preview of a movie. Thinking about a proposal as a preview or trailer for the full grant proposal, select another grant proposal from the Examples of Successful Grant Proposals Links to an external site. (one you have not selected previously) and focus on the summary. For the first part of the discussion, provide a response to each of the six questions in Worksheet 10.1: Summary Questionnaire (found in Step 10 in your textbook) using the information found in the summary. Be sure to also identify the specific grant proposal you are working from. For the second part of the discussion, based on what you've learned from the textbook and after reading some examples of successful grant proposals, what is one piece of advice you give on writing the summary to someone who is writing their first grant? Week 10 Discussion attached doc Once the grant has been approved, the funder will be interested in receiving feedback on your performance, progress, outcomes and budget management. The table linked below reflects an overview (not exhaustive) of the kinds of reports required for grants from various entities. Additionally, there are links to a detailed overview of what each section of the report should include, how often the reports should be developed, and how often they are due. Based on the identified funders from Week 1, provide an overview of the reporting requirements and assess what is required to meet these requirements. How are these requirements different and similar to the information provided in the table below? Determine if a cover letter or email is required to accompany the submission of the reports. Finally, what kind of supporting documentation would you include in the appendix or attachment section? Week 11 Discussion The waiting process once a grant application has been submitted can be grueling. However, this time can be used wisely, and can ensure that an organization is prepared once they are notified of whether they were funded. One essential task is to hold a meeting to debrief with the grant writing staff to assess the effectiveness of the process. Imagine you are preparing for a debrief meeting, specifically discussing what you have learned from developing this grant for the Resource Center to start an after-school program. Come up with 2-3 major takeaways from this process to share with your team. This may be something you learned about the process, a resource or experience you found especially valuable, a challenge you faced, or something that really surprised you. For the discussion, share your takeaways and be sure to be specific and provide an explanation for each. Be sure to respond to at least one of your classmates' posts. Assignment Grants involve reports and every grant has its own unique reporting requirements. This allows the funders to see how the money is being spent throughout the life of the program and ensures you are using the same measures you outlined in your application. For this assignment, you will need to create a grant reporting plan. Choose one of the funders you identified in the first assignment and look for as many specifics as you can find around reporting requirements for that grant. Then, create a document that contains the following information: How often do reports need to be submitted to the funders?In what format do the funders want the reports?Where should the reports be sent?Who should be contacted if the organization encounters problems during the course of the program?What tools (if any) will you use to track process and create reports? Explain. Your document should be 1-2 pages in length. Be sure to clearly identify the funder and cite the funder information using the Strayer Writing Standards (the citations are not part of the 1-2 page requirement).
