Please contact your instructor for information about accessing the Data Files. Instructions: Run PowerPoint. Open the presentation called Apply 3­1 Cats, which is located in the Data Files. The four slides in the presentation, shown in Figure 3–78, discuss the factors you should consider when adopting a cat. The local pet store is holding a special event for cat adoptions. The document you open is composed of slides containing pictures and a video. You will apply artistic effects or modify some of these graphic elements. You also will move placeholders. In addition, you will animate photos and a title using an entrance effect. Figure 3–78a Perform the following tasks: 1. On Slide 1 (Figure 3–78a), move the title text placeholder to the upper area of the slide, the subtitle text placeholder to the lower area of the slide, and the green­eyed cat picture to the bottom left corner of the slide, as shown in the figure. Color the green­eyed cat picture by selecting Saturation: 200% from the Color Saturation area, and apply the Paint Brush artistic effect to the picture, as shown in figure. Decrease the picture size to 3.35”×3.88” and apply the Metal Oval picture style to the picture. Apply the Float In animation entrance effect, change the duration to 2.50, and then change the Start timing setting to With Previous. 2. On Slide 1, change the title font to Eras Bold ITC, increase the font size to 72 point, and then change the font color to Dark Blue, Background 2 (in Theme Colors row). Change the size of the title text placeholder to 3.73”×3.75” and then move it to the left area of the slide using the Smart Guides to line it up with the left edge of the picture, as shown in the figure. Apply the Fly In animation and then change the direction to From Right to the title text font and change the duration to 2.00. Change the Start timing setting to After Previous. 3. On Slide 1, change the subtitle font to Arial, increase the font size to 36 point, change the font color to Dark Blue (in Standard Colors row), and then bold and italicize this text. 4. On Slide 2 (Figure 3–78b), change the title text font to Arial, increase the font size to 44 point, bold this text, and then change the font color to Light Green (in Standard Colors row). Align this text left. Use the Format Painter to format the title text font on Slides 3 and 4 with the same features as the title text font on Slide 2. Figure 3–78b 5. Increase the size of the bulleted list font on Slide 2 to 24 point and then bold this text. Apply the Grow & Turn entrance effect to the bulleted list and then change the duration to 1.75. Change the Start timing setting to After Previous. 6. On Slide 2, increase the size of the right cat picture to approximately 4.12”×4.29” and then apply the Bevel Rectangle picture style to the cat picture. Decrease the size of the kitten picture in the center of the slide to approximately 4.24”×4.98” and then apply the Soft Edge Oval picture style to the kitten picture. Move the cat and kitten pictures to the locations shown in the figure. 7. On Slide 3 (Figure 3–78c), increase the size of the video to 5”×8.88”. Apply the Rotated, Gradient video style in the Moderate area to the video, change the border weight to 6 pt, and then change the border color to Dark Blue (in Standard Colors row). Move the video to the location shown in the figure. Trim the video so that the Start Time is 00:15.073. Start this video automatically. Figure 3–78c 8. Increase the size of the picture to approximately 3.1”×3.51” on Slide 3. Apply the Soft Edge Rectangle picture style to the picture. 9. On Slide 4 (Figure 3–78d), reset the picture to its original color and style by clicking the Reset Picture button (Picture Tools Format tab | Adjust group). Increase the size of the picture to approximately 5.75”×10.21”, apply the Beveled Oval, Black picture style, and then move the picture to the location shown in the figure. Figure 3–78d 10. If requested by your instructor, add your mother’s first name as a second line under the subtitle on Slide 1. 11. Apply the Clock transition in the Exciting category to all the slides. Change the duration to 3.00 seconds. 12. View the presentation and then save the file using the file name, Apply 3–1 Adopt a Cat. 13. Submit the revised document in the format specified by your instructor. 14. In Step 2, you changed the size of the title text placeholder and then moved it to the upper left area of the slide. How did this style improve the slide? On Slide 3, you trimmed the start time of the video. Why?
