Purpose statement
Healthcare is one of the most critical services that require compassion and hospitality among the
clients. However, the aspect of perceived racial inequalities and discrimination in healthcare has
hindered the quality of care offered to patients from racial minority communities. Nurses are
supposed to display non-partisan qualities while handling patients from a diverse racial
background. The ethical codes of professional practice provide guidelines that nurses and other
healthcare professional should follow while serving patients. Compassion and unbiased care
overruns all aspects of care provided to patients.
Thesis: All patients have the right to unbiased healthcare regardless of their racial or ethnic
background. Although all patients have the right to unbiased care, cases of healthcare
discrimination of patients from minority communities continue to rise something that
undermines the quality of care and patient outcome within many healthcare facilities.
