Running Head: POLLINATION
Pollination is defined as the process of transferring pollen grains in a flower from the
anther (male) of a flower to the stigma (female part of a flower). The major objectives of flowers
in the environment are to create offspring’s of the future or next generation and they do it by the
process of pollination. The flowers produce offspring through the process of making seeds. The
seed contains genes necessary for producing a new plant. To produce seeds, plants use flowers
and such seed can only occur when the pollen grains are transferred between flowers which are
of the same species. For pollen grains to move from one flower to another, flowers rely on
vectors which include insects, birds, water, wind, bats, butterflies among many more other
animals which visits flowers.
