Description
hello there this is my first time to ask, it a 2007 CRV the brake are ok but one of the rear brake gets very hot and smell could this be caused by a bad caliper piston.
Explanation & Answer
Hi Tes,
Yes, this could be result of a failing caliper piston or one of the pads getting stuck in a position where it is in constant contact with the rotor. Leaving your parking brake on while driving would also cause significant heat to radiate from the rear brakes after normal driving. However, this generally wouldn't only affect one side. Lastly, removing the caliper and inspecting it should give you insight into exactly what the issue is.
Regards,
Alex
