Description

Hi, I post assignment requirement below, and I wanna just discuss hypertension in this essay, it's not necessary to be so great, just a quick, simple essay with everything needed! Thank you!

Topic

The requirement for this assignment will consist of a critical review describing the topic of choice and its implications for the field of biological anthropology and/or how it impacts other aspects of society.

One major aspect of biological anthropology is genetic variation among different ethnic populations. As such, different ethnic groups face different health problems in response to genetic make-up as well as lifestyle. The conditions proposed below can be explained using Mendelian or post-Mendelian genetic rules of transmission (see Mendelian and post-Mendelian disorders in Stanford et al.)

This research paper has to include quantitative and analytical reasoning techniques.

1-Select one of the conditions listed below:

  • Tay-Sachs disease
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Albinism
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Hypertension
  • Diabetes
  • Huntington disease

2-Include in your essay the following information:

  • Describe the condition (must be hereditary)
  • What kind of condition is it (chromosomal either autosome or on sex chromosome)?
  • How is this condition transmitted?
  • Is this condition Mendelian or post-Mendelian? Explain
  • What sector of the population is more commonly affected? (Illustrate with quantitative data) Why?
  • Mention some proposed cures.
  • What are the implications of Mendelian/Post-Mendelian genetics?

3-Writing Guidelines

  • Minimum of 750 words
  • Double spaced
  • Name, course title, in upper right corner
  • Title (no title page)
  • Topic sentence should be stated at the end of the first paragraph
  • No quotes or cut and paste. Use citations when paraphrasing other people’s work. Plagiarism is not tolerated.
  • Use at least three citations. Citations should follow APA format. Use peer reviewed journals only. Additional web sources can be used (in addition to the three journal sources). Only recognized academic institutions may be used for web citations (e.g. Smithsonian Institution, AAAS, PBS, Nova).
  • No hard copy is necessary. Submit your work through Canvas which has a “turnitin” component that assesses your paper’s original work. I specifically look at the matching sources indicated by “turnitin” for your grade.

Hypertension

Biological anthropology expounds on the variations in the gene makeup of different
ethnic groups. It explains how the occurrence of health problems is determined by the genes of a
person as well as their lifestyle. Some health conditions associated with gene variations include
albinism, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, Huntington disease, hypertension, Sickle-cell anemia, and
Tay-Sachs disease. In this essay, a detailed discussion on hypertension as a hereditary condition
is explained below.
The term hereditary refers to when traits are passed on from one generation to the other in
a family through genes. Hypertension condition is also referred to as high blood pressure. Blood
pressure can be explained as the force applied on the walls of the blood vessels by the blood
running in them. The right level of blood pressure has been debated on, and there exists no
certain acceptable level. However, the American Heart Association argues that the normal blood
pressure should not be above 130 over 80 millimeters of mercury. Hypertension can, therefore,
be termed as the persistent elevation in blood pressure above the normal rate. Hypertension in ...
