Assignment:3 After having read the websites cited in the introduction and read your peers posts develop an out of the box physical activity resource guide. Imagine that your peers all live in the same general locale. Research fun and unusual but accessible activities that will meet the physical activity goals of you and your peers. Your resource guide should have a minimum of 6 different activities. Each entry should contain a description of the activity, costs, when and where, contact person, website or copy of the listing location. Feel free to include photos or graphics. You may submit your resource guide in PowerPoint, pdf, Word or Microsoft publisher format. Remember to think out of the box-search for activities on Living Social, Groupon, Department of Recreation and Parks brochures, club and meetings sections of the newspaper, bulletin boards in your favorite neighborhood coffee shop or grocery store, etc. The assignments and learning activities in this module require a mindful self-assessment and the ability to apply creativity and innovation toward goal achievement. Landslide and Debris Disaster Plan
The occurrence of disasters in one’s life is normal, and for as long as people would live on
other, numerous forms of tragedies will continue occurring. Some people would perceive such
incidents as accidental, but in most cases, they are not based on the continuous update of the
probable calamities at particular seasons of the year. The US is among the countries that often
experience different forms of disasters which are as a result of changes in the environment and
global warming accompanied by the four seasons of the year.
Landslides and the flow of debris are usually experienced in all states of the US. Based on
this factor, the US meteorological department has the mandate of ensuring it provides any
information related to the changes in weather condition which would thus be used in various
decision-making processes and plans (Phillips, Neal, & Webb, 2016). This paper would, therefore,
focus on the occurrence of landslide and the associated debris flow, the programs that would be
developed to counter the problem and other rescue mechanisms that would be deployed wherever
any disaster occurs.
Formation of landslides
The landslides refer to the movement of the land’s rocks or other materials down the slope
of a particular region. Wherever huge rains are experienced in the mountainous areas or perhaps
when temperatures rise, and the ice from the mountains starts melting thus increasing the levels of
water in the water bodies (Phillips et al. 2016). In situations where the passageway of this water is
not stable enough, water overflows into the surrounding areas to find its way down the slope thus
weakening the sloppy regions. This process eventually causes land masses to flow to the lower
regions of a specific terrain causing landslide and debris flow. The disturbance of the natural
stability of a slope is the primary cause of debris flow or landslides. Other factors like heavy rains

as mentioned earlier on, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and droughts are the basis of landslides
in various parts of the world. Avalanches would eventually form wherever water accumulates
rapidly in the ground cause a surge in the rocks, debris material and earth as a whole (Phillips et
al. 2016). Areas that happen to have experienced wildfires or destruction of vegetation cover are
very vulnerable to the occurrence of mudslides wherever there are heavy rains or afterward.
Disaster plan
The disaster plan of any calamity that would occur has three key phases that include the
before the occurrence, during and the after the existence of a disaster (Waugh, 2015). The plan is
meant to alert people of the probability of the event of an emergency, what ought to be done to
save lives and property and other interventions that would aid in curbing or doing away with a
particular incident. The disaster plan is usually developed by the federal government’s agents,
those of the county governments, the meteorological department, and other disaster management
organizations in the US and the globe like the Red Cross organization.
Before mudslide or landslide occurs phase
This phase involves the preparedness level of the people, family or any individual who
would as well be affected by a disaster. In the process of readying for calamities, the disaster kits...
