Health care is a business in itself as it involves strategic management of people and
infrastructure to run. To manage the business aspect or the efficient running of a health care
organization requires certain procedures and policies to be put in place. These procedures entail
that the health care organization be it a hospital or the workers in a hospital, meet certain
standards set by the organization. Organizational policies may be put in place to help minimize
costs of running the health care organization be it hospital, clinic or even the entire health care
industries. The goal is to reduce costs incurred by the organization while still maintaining the
quality of service provided to the patients (Bianca, 2018).
One such policy would be aiming to decrease overhead costs that do not contribute to
better care. Overhead costs being expenses associated with the running of the organization that
cannot be directly related to the services the organization offers. One way of curbing overhead
costs in a hospital would be looking into the management of water and electricity and how it
could be improved to cut down on costs. This is a policy that has been put to work by the
