Introduction
International organizations are significantly engaged in creating a conducive global
environment based on social, political and economic aspects, which form the basis of their
existence. There are underlying operational goals that play an integral role in creating a highly
diversified focus where it would be possible to achieve a high level of organizational commitment.
The European Union has been one of the major international bodies that have sought to create a
significant operational environment where it is possible to transform the lives of member countries
as well as its partners. The formation of European Union was aimed at improving trade and
peaceful coexistence among member countries. The European Union has significantly diversified
its operations across the globe through various agreements, which provide focus on the need to
develop a greater level of understanding in achieving a high level of global success. This research

An international player, in this case, takes into consideration the overall influence that the
European Union is having on member countries as well as its influence within a global perspective.
It is important to understand some of the key objectives of the European Union to have a better
understanding of what it aims to achieve within the global environment. The organization is
developed with a key objective to ensure that there are better relations between member countries

positive influence, which is aimed at improving the political environment as well as the underlying
relationship between a given country and its citizens. Therefore, these concepts will provide a
better focus under which the analysis is based (Whitman & Wolff, 2012).

that the union is highly engaged and remains very influential. The European Union favors
negotiation, conviction and dialogue capacities more that it engages its military or coercion tactics.
This strategy is referred to as soft power strategy that does not involve physical confrontation but
focuses on the intellectual environment. These strategies have ensured that Europe remains largely
peaceful despite significant tensions and threats that have been effectively countered (Hodson,
2015).
The existing weaknesses in the operational environment within the European Union
include division inside the union and weak military power. The divisions within the European
Union have created a difficult operational environment leading to Brexit. The inability to
effectively organize its operations to benefit every member has been a key concern from the major
member states. Key member states who have high economic power within the union have claimed
that they are getting raw deals where other countries have been benefiting due to unfavorable deals
and policies that have been developed. A weak military power means that the European Union
lacks the necessary power to protect its people fully from external threats that are becoming
