Given that this is a social psychology course, your task is, therefore, (1) to review the social psychological literature that pertains to a given social problem of your choice; (2) to identify gaps in that literature that need to be studied; and (3) to identify a potential research question that needs to be studied so that you may add to the literature and advance knowledge that can benefit society.

Over the years, many nations have primarily faced a critical condition about social
problems which influences the social psychology of individuals. These issues exhibited by the
social psychology have raised concerns on how to deal with them. The term sociology refers to
the scientific study of a community, its social interaction and relationship, and culture. The term
of sociological issues relates to issues that influence a considerable number of individuals in a
society. It is usually the consequence of things extending on the far side a personality's
management and is that the supply of conflicting opinion on the grounds of what people perceive
as a virtuously merely personal life or social group order. These sociological problems exhibit a
wide range of concerns about an understanding issue related to HIV/AIDs. They include poverty,
social stigma and discrimination, homophobia and HIV, gend er inequality, and human rights,
(Rushing,, 2018). Therefore, this paper examines and discusses the social issues related to social
psychology concept.
Psychological approaches have tried to address social problems through cognitive,
behavioral, phenomenological, clinical, and development. Therefore, through social psychology
approach, we can understand the behaviors of people, (Smith et al., 2014). One of the social
problems that have grown massively is violence and aggression in families today. Over the years
violence and assault have been a common thing in families, which requires a change of approach
since many people have died in the process of conflict and aggression. Therefore, through social
psychology approach psychologist plays a significant role to try to help us understand why many
people engage in violence. Violence is an act of physical force by an individual to another with
the intention of causing harm, kill, damage, or hurt for something or someone, while aggression

is a social interaction of an individual or a group of people that is usually hostile with the
intention of inflicting harm or hurt.

In figure 1 above helps us understand how social psychology has affected the
understanding of different views, behavior, nature, and social life in different perspectives.
Through this study, we can understand why people are into violence and aggression? What made
them be so? In other words, this study of social psychology tries to give us answers to some of
the life questions about social behaviors and problem. Over time the realization of violence and
aggression has brought unique ideas of how it started and grown to the extension of making a
massive case in many nations. The sociocultural of individuals can be one of the factors that
influence violence and aggression.
Violence and aggression can be exhibited or shown in different forms such as child
maltreatment, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and elder maltreatment. Therefore the
occurrence of violence in families it’s psychological consequences can affect children, their

relationships, and families in either short term or long term. The manifestation of these actions
can be either intrinsic and extrinsic factors as well as the context or setting in which it occurs.
Analytical research has reported that there has been an increase in some violent cases in the
recent ten years. Therefore it brought a significant approach to me for further analysis to
understand why it happens and how can it solved. Violence and aggression have been the source
of many bad this that is occurring in our society today such as crime, killing, theft, school
dropout, peer pressure, drug abuse, HIV/AIDs e.t.c. Thus ignorance of it will continue affecting
our generations to come. Violence should be stopped in America for peace to keep thriving.
