Alexander's victory
Alexander was able to defeat his biggest enemy, Darius. Darius III had been used to
winning all the battles. However, Alexander decided that he ought to overcome Darius. The main
reason that contributed to Darius victory was the formulation of battle strategies and improvisation.
He was able to employ the skills he had learned from his father. his father had taken a great
initiative in teaching him about military skills. He also taught him about the best strategies to apply
in order to win a fight. He also improvised on these skills (Worthington, 2014).
Despite the short notice to the fight, Alexander emerged as a leader. When Alexander met
Darius at the mountain pass at Issus, he was almost uncertain about his ability to win. Darius had
a great army which outnumbered Alexander’s (Howe, Garvin & Wrightson, 2015). The field in
which they were setting the fight was very small. He, however, took advantage of the small field
and used it to his advantage. On his defeat, Darius managed to escape. The defeat came as a
surprise to him. This victory marked the end of the Persian power.
The Persian king, Darius was not fighting but Alexander was busy directing his army. This
was one of the major downfalls of Darius. He didn’t take the opportunity to motivate his army. A
great leader is supportive. This provided a competitive advantage to Alexander. He had brought
his entire family to the battle. He had a large army compared to Alexander. However, Alexander
possessed battling strategies which were very helpful. He was a creative thinker and this
contributed the most to his victory.

2015).
The next step is developing objectives. These will be a sub-division of the goals. It will
define the short-term focus of the organization. Employees will rely on these objectives to ac...
