When Lightner Witmer originally defined clinical psychology, he talked about it as a discipline with similarities to medicine, education, and sociology. He did not even mention psychotherapy. Yet that is a main focus today. Using the reading material as your main source, discuss what factors have contributed to the rise in prominence of psychotherapy? What are the most important ways that psychology has an impact in people's lives today?
