Explain why communication is essential in an organization.
According to Fielding (2005), communication is one of the core pillars of any successful
business and thus has invaluable benefits to an organization. The first benefit of communication
in an organization is that it helps in sharing of information in an organization. Communication
acts as a link between different employees and between an employer and employees, thus
helping to relay information and data. Communication also helps in shaping individuals’
attitudes. This is important in an organization because only when all individuals have trust and
believe in a new process or change, can they work freely to enable success. Changing
individual’s attitudes also helps in motivating, and directing individuals to work as expected. In
addition, communication helps in socialization. According to Picardi (2001), socialization is a
core part of every work environment since it enables for more cohesion, cooperation, and
