ideas that had been pushed by his friend Thomas Love Peacock that science and modernity have
made poetry to become redundant and valueless. Shelley holds that reason is what results to logic
and imagination gives perception. As a continuation of this view, he feels that with the two
aspects, a human being is able to form beauty. Shelley argues that language gives an impulse to
order and harmony of the society, and this ultimately leads to the appreciation of beauty and the
unification of aspects that combine to form it. The poets, he argues, are the ones who have in
excess of language, and this means that poetry is a sharing of the observations and experiences.
