The introduction to sociology has been of great importance in developing students’ skills
in understanding a wide array of logistics as well as history. Sociology presents students with
skills in understanding both the applied and the basic science. This way students are able to think
and make critical and informed decisions over matters that are challenging to the society. As a
student of sociology, I am going to look at some of the specific ways through which the lessons
we learned in throughout the course has been able to enhance and enlighten my understanding of
concrete events that are currently taking place in the united states. Some of the appropriate
working concepts that I am going to look at include aspects of the definition of certain logic and
theories. This is because understanding these concepts have been very useful for being aware of
the theoretical perspectives as well as understanding the theory development process.
Lessons of sociology have proven to be very useful in understanding the social life. And
this it has made possible by enabling me as a student to understand and know the factors that are
driving and making the existence of the society to be very possible. This I was able to understand
through activities such as group formations, noting the variations in class attendance,
understanding the behavior of other students and also the nature of the social organizations
(Ferris, & Stein, 2010). In the real world, this training proves to be so important because it helps
to understand and tolerate others the way they are despite their unique. Being able to understand
and interact with theirs is very important as it helps one to build self-esteem as well as expand
friendship with others. Moreover, the skill is important for dealing with people who are hostile
and unfriendly.
The course was also able to take us through certain theories and concepts that were
brought up by prominent psychologists like Marx, Durkheim, Blumer, Coleman, and others.
