Introduction
In the history of Mesopotamia where this tale developed, it is traced back to around 2100
BC. Gilgamesh, the great king of Uruk, comes out as the young strong man who apparently is so
full of himself more so through selfishness. Through the use of his power, he obtained favors
especially from women as he fulfills his sexual desires with every new bride. For the local
folklore of the natives did not underrate women to such heights, this turns out ironical since
Gilgamesh himself adored the role of women as he is seen keenly taking his mother’s advice into
consideration. Gilgamesh exercises a ruling dictatorship to his people who pray to their god to
teach their king how to take care of the sheep instead of scattering them away. Out of their faith,
god answers and sends a friend to the king who influenced positively their union. This led to the
killing of the cedar demon and building a place for their god. The king who was also a believer
did not understand why things existed such as death and decided to obtain the answer to this
question which seemed rhetorical. However, this was the beginning of the lesson taught to king
Gilgamesh that the will of the gods was inevitable.
