I chose this question because I want to bring awareness to that using cell phones while driving can be a distraction and deadly and this is why the laws should be standardized in all states. In addition, should the same law and regulation apply to car manufactures and law enforcement? While some people may think that using cell phones when driving is not a distraction, I think that stricter laws would prevent the drivers from being distracted and lower/prevent fatal car accidents. The major three characteristics of my audience will be drivers of all ages, lawmakers and car manufactures. I will be addressing people that will have been affected by driving distracted and people who have the power to put laws in place to possibly ban cell phone usage while driving. My scope will focus on the safety while driving using a cell phone and stricter laws to prohibit cell phone use while driving. I will provide the disadvantages of driving distracted and why cell phone should not be used while driving. I will explain the advantages of having stricter regulations that will help to eliminate fatalities due to using the cell phones. My paper will contain an introduction, history, problem, solutions, a disadvantage section and a conclusion. There are questions that need to be answered, would law enforcement be exempt from the cell phone laws? What can car manufactures do to make it safer to use a cell phone with minimum distraction? And lastly should the laws be the same across the board for all states? STANDARDIZED REGULATIONS FOR CELL PHONE USAGE WHEN DRIVING 3 I intend to use the Strayer Learning Resource Center and databases and Scholar.Google.com to do research on my topic. I will explore to what resources are available to assist in documenting the advantages and disadvantages of using the cell phones while driving. I will organize the research for my paper by subject- history, problems, advantages, disadvantages and solution. I will search for separate sources for each section and make a list of all the resources I intend to use in each section. Also, I intend t use the Strayer Database to find articles and existing laws with regard to the making stricter laws, banning cell phone usage and vehicle manufactures accountability. Three sources that I may use are the Cell Use While Driving, State Laws Restricting Driver Use of Mobile Communication Devices, Driving Distracted. These articles provide information pertaining to cell phone usage while driving can be dangerous, distracting and current laws across the country. The articles are linked to other resources that will provide information relevant to my topic such as the safety of not using the cell phone when driving, which states have laws and which do not. This will support my topic that regulations should be standardized across the country. The information gathered will help inform the readers that it is safer wiser to not use their cell phones. I believe that if I adhere to this plan, I will write an indepth and well-researched paper that relies on credible sources to make its point.
