Introduction
Freedom of expression and hate speech is a relevant topic in the study of politics. Freedom
of speech is granted by the First Amendment of the United States' constitution. The constitution
grants the press and citizens to express peacefully what they like or feel is right for the country.
The freedom of expression provision of the First Amendment also grants citizens the freedom to
worship in the religion of their choice, right to assembly, petitioning the government and also
protesting peacefully (Herman, 2017). However, the ability to substantiate a free statement and
hate speech has always been a great concern for the state and the political figures. The media and
politician have landed in trouble for attempting to report or express what they feel is right or know
as true. The controversy between a free speech and a hate speech draws the attention of any
politically minded individual.
Freedom of expression and the truth are controversial factors that require proper address
