A standout amongst the most diplomatic issues amid President Ronald Reagan's reign in
government involved his dealings with respect to his missile proposition. President Ronald
Reagan trusted that self-defense rockets intended to bring down hostile missiles would allow for
an immense decrease in the number of aggressive rockets controlled by both the Soviet Union
and the United States. When the President initially brought forth his Strategic Defense Initiative
or "Star Wars" program, the Soviets and faultfinders in America and Europe were against it
(Pach, 2006). The program at its best risked destabilizing the war-head balance, and from a
pessimistic standpoint, the "Star Wars" venture furnished the United States with the ability to
strike first. However, in conjunction with Mikhail Gorbachev, the Soviet leader, President
Ronald Reagan prevailed with regards to wiping out a whole class of nuclear weapons (Meyer,
2004). In spite of the fact that the U.S.S.R could not mirror the innovation of weapons, Presid ent
Reagan's aggressive development of weapons, alongside the Soviet leader, assisted in
introducing a new generation of receptiveness which in the end caused the separation of the
U.S.S.R into singular countries....
