The three Africa-oriented religions include Abakuá which is practiced in Cuba and in
the United States; Candomblé of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela and also in the U.S;
and Louisiana Voodoo that is practiced in the U.S.
Abakuá
Abakuá is believed to have originated from areas between South-east of Nigeria and
South_west of Cameroon. Generally, people from these regions are referred to as Egbo or
Ugbe. Members of this religion are called ñañigos. In Cuba, they are well known for their
involvement in Carnival during the Day of the Three Kings as they distinctively dance
