Introduction
Maternal and child health is subject to many factors ranging from social economic,
environmental and behavioral factors. Improving the health a mother and child is one of the
sustainable development goals. To reduce maternal mortality, morbidity and infant deaths, both
post-natal care and antenatal care levels are required. Behavioral determinants that affect
maternal and child health include; life stress, marital status, parity, time lived in the
neighborhood, drug and substance abuse, hygiene and sanitation and healthy eating habits.
Health eating is the most important factor that leads to maternal and child health with breast
feeding being the major factor.
