The Book of Zachariah
Authorship of the book of Zechariah.
The book of Zechariah was an inspired book which contained insights that God revealed his
workings to his people. Zechariah name has a meaning which referred to a phrase that Yahweh
remembers. Through it means that God was trying to remember the work his people are doing to
him and that they should always follow him faithfully. On reference to the background of
prophet Zechariah is that he was one among the three prophets who ministered to the exiles
during the period of returning to Jerusalem from Babylon. The other prophets included prophet
Haggai, Malachi. The efforts of writing the book of Zechariah was during the rebuilding of the
temple of Judah which had been destroyed by the Babylonians. Some of the most common pros
that were evident during the authorship of the book were that the authors were able to experience
more in life regarding coming across different people. They explored things that the prophet was
doing which made it easier in writing the book through inspiration of the Holy Spirit. However,
there were some disadvantages which were evident such as, rejection. Most people sometimes
rejected the authors when they tried to find information about the deeds of Zechariah which
limited their authorship.
