The Hamitic Hypothesis
It states that anything valuable that ever exists in Africa was conveyed by the Hamites;
people of the Caucasian racial origin. According to history, people believed that the Hamites were
Negroes. Drawn from Biblical stories, they are believed to be the descendants of Ham, the son of
Noah, who were cursed to be black and hence associated with an undesirable character. Any
progress or development found in Africa is therefore believed to have been brought by foreign
people from the African diaspora and not generated within the continent (Law, 2009).
The Olmec Stone Heads
The Olmecs curved more than 20 stone heads in the southern parts of Mexico. They are
believed to be part of the most ancient civilizations in America, dated over 3000 years BC. The
Olmecs were part of the prehistoric trade activities that began in Africa and spread to other parts
of the world. Their practices were similar to African practices, especially body and face
scarification. The ancient Olmec Stone Heads are therefore believed to have originated from
Africa.
The Nat Turner Rebellion
Nat Turner was a black American slave, who headed the most operative slave rebellion in
the history of the United States.; although his actions gave rise to a new wave of oppression and
prohibition of education and assembly by the whites in the South. He preached against the
