  • Artificial intelligence in healthcare can be defined as the use of computers and technology to produce thinking comparable to that possible by the human brain (Amisha, et al., 2019). With the increasing number of Americans living healthier and longer lives with chronic illness, artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly utilized to maximize healthcare resources, optimize patient-provider communication, and enable those living with chronic illness to more successfully manage their condition (Singareddy, et al., 2023). In recent evidence based research, AI was proven to be helpful in successfully producing image recognition, providing valuable support and confirmation of provider diagnoses and treatment plans (Singareddy, et al., 2023). Additionally, research solidified the crucial role AI plays in aiding healthcare providers in successful administration and management of patient adherence (Singareddy, et al., 2023). AI is also useful because it enables patients and healthcare professionals to communicate in real time and without the limitations of physical proximity. Currently, healthcare providers must devote as much or more time to the demands of charting, and submitting required paperwork than direct patient care (Singareddy, et al., 2023). AI tools such as dictation, transcription, and replication devices have the potential to eliminate the administrative burdens of healthcare professionals, increasing the time providers can devote to direct patient care (Singareddy, et al., 2023). Finally, AI allows patients to record required data that is useful for providers in formulating effective care plans without the burdens of human error.
  • One form of AI that is useful for managing chronic illness is the closed-loop system that allows insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors to operate as a single system, closely mimicking the action of the healthy pancreas. The closed loop system, also known as the artificial pancreas or automated insulin delivery system, involves an insulin pump communicating wirelessly with a continuous glucose monitor to administer insulin dependent upon the individual’s current blood glucose levels. Current research demonstrates the use of closed loop system for the management of diabetes results in a reduction of hemoglobin A1C levels, and an increase in time in range for patients (Bisio, et al., 2022). Finally, the closed loop system allows both healthcare providers and caregivers of the individual living with diabetes real time access to data needed to make decisions for effectively managing diabetes (NIDDK, 2021).

Hi Roselyne. Your post provides a comprehensive and detailed overview of the
process of obtaining an NPI number for Medicare billing as a nurse practitioner in Florida.
Your step-by-step approach is clear and highlights the importance of planning ahead, given
the time it may take for the application to be reviewed and approved. Additionally, your
discussion on the specific state's licensing and certification requirements for APRN
prescribing is thorough. You've effectively outlined the necessary educational qualifications
and continuing education requirements, emphasizing the importance of adhering to statespecific regulations (Wheeler et al., 2022). This demonstrates a stron...
