The American century as it is regarded was domination of United States in cultural,
political and economic fields. The 20th century is the period which started in January 1900 and
ended in December 2000. During this period, the influence of America grew rapidly until it
became a superpower controlling politics, economy, and culture of the world. The United States
and the Soviet Union remained the only superpowers after the end of World War II. Towards the
end of 20th century, Soviet Union was dissolved, and the United States remained the only
world's superpower thus controlling everything in the world. This paper seeks to explore the
reasons why the 20th century is regarded as the American century in details.
